Michael Disporto, 30, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 10 to life in prison without parole, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay said in a news release. He was convicted in the death and sexual assault of a 23-month-old girl identified by the initials "A.S."
Gloucester City police responded to a report of an unresponsive child on Sunday, July 3, 2016. A.S. was rushed to Cooper University Hospital for extensive injuries and signs of sexual abuse.
A.S. was pronounced dead on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Her death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.
A jury found Disporto guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
Disporto also received a consecutive term of 40 years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault conviction.
